Southend calls on swisher during peak visiting times

04 April 2012

Southend Borough Council values visitors to the town and that is why it maintains the highest standards of hygiene in public toilets. The council has recently called on the expertise of Swisher to carry out a deep clean service of public toilets in the borough.

Southend is busy all year round but during the Summer months it can become notoriously  busy with the annual influx of summer holidaymakers and weekend visitors travelling to the historic seaside location.

A recent renovation programme for the public toilets in the borough was completed in partnership with Danfo UK Ltd, Allied Construction Ltd, Cory Environmental Municipal Service (CEMS) and Swisher Hygiene.  The project delivered a new toilet facility in Eastwood Park and refurbishments across 22 other priority locations including Southend seafront.  Toilets have been upgraded with energy saving devices such as light sensors and water saving hand-washing units.

To compliment the existing cleansing regime provided by CEMS Services, Swisher was brought in to provide a deep clean service and sanitise all surfaces.  Cllr. Ian Robertson, executive portfolio holder for public protection, said: “We are pleased to have delivered an extensive refurbishment programme for this summer.  Providing clean and usable toilets is important to meet the demands of our residents and visitors.”
